Silkworm Care Sheet
FramsChams Silkworm Care Guide
Keep your silkworms healthy and thriving with these simple care tips!
🐛 Transfer & Housing
Upon arrival, move your silkworms to a larger, open-air container. Place both the silkworms and their food inside. Avoid keeping them in the small, closed shipping container—humidity buildup will harm or kill them.
🍽️ Feeding Your Silkworms
Use a coarse cheese grater to grate fresh silkworm food directly on top of the silkworms daily. They will naturally climb up to the fresh food and leave their waste behind. This encourages ventilation and keeps them healthy.
If you run out of silkworm food, grated carrot is a good temporary substitute—silkworms may turn orange but remain nutritious.
🌡️ Temperature & Environment
-
Keep silkworms at room temperature, up to 84°F
-
Do NOT refrigerate silkworms—cold will kill them
-
Provide plenty of ventilation by using an open container
🦎 Display Tips
Place silkworms on branches or vines so your reptiles can easily see and interact with them. Pets prefer live movement over food presented in a cup.
