SILKWORM SHIPPING POLICY

Shipping Days
Our shipping days are Monday and Tuesday mornings. This makes it more likely that orders will be delivered by the weekend and will not be held over on Sunday. 
  • Orders ship next day on Monday and early Tuesday morning (before 8:30am.)
  • Orders placed Tuesday through Sunday will be shipped the following Monday.

 

Shipping Methods

  • USPS Priority Mail: We ship USPS Priority Mail as our standard delivery service. Priority Mail advertises 2-3 day shipments to most locations in the continental USA, however this is not guaranteed by USPS or FramsChams. Please understand that shipping may take longer than the advertised time. FramsChams has no control of shipping times.
  • USPS Priority Mail Express: If you desire a quicker ship time, you may choose Priority Mail Express at checkout. This service offers a next-day to 2-day delivery service by 6PM.
  • Tracking numbers will be automatically emailed to you the day your silkworms ship (Monday or Tuesday). If you do not receive a tracking number, PLEASE check your SPAM folder and then email us as soon as possible if necessary. We are happy to get you that information.
*Someone should ALWAYS be home to bring your LIVE silkworms inside IMMEDIATELY upon arrival. Boxes left outside (mailbox, porch, etc) may be subject to excessive heat, sun and cold that can easily kill silkworms. For these reasons we ONLY guarantee live arrival if held at the post office for pickup. Read the following section for details. 

 

 LIVE ARRIVAL GUARANTEE

We will ONLY guarantee silkworms that have been held for pickup at your local post office. Any silks delivered anywhere other than a post office for pickup will not come with the LIVE ARRIVAL GUARANTEE. Your check in the "HOLD FOR PICKUP" box at checkout will confirm your acceptance of this requirement. If there is no box to check, email us with the "HOLD" request promptly. When there is NO CHECKMARK or EMAIL, your silkworms will ship to your home address and will NOT be guaranteed.

If your silkworms have the Live Arrival Guarantee and your silkworms arrive dead, you must let us know within 8 hours after delivery to the POST OFFICE. Delivery times are recorded by USPS tracking. After 8 hours, we will not replace dead silkworms. We kindly ask that you provide a picture or video in your email. We will ship a replacement order to you on our next ship date.

THE POST OFFICE WILL NOT CALL YOU TO ALERT YOU THAT YOUR SILKS HAVE BEEN DELIVERED. PLEASE WATCH THE TRACKING!

 

The Live Arrival Guarantee WILL NOT BE IN EFFECT under the following circumstances:

Temperature Extremes "Ship At Your Own Risk"

Heat and cold are typically not a problem because silkworms are surprisingly hardy. However there are temperature extremes that void our "Live Arrival Guarantee", even when shipped to a post office, and will be considered "Ship at Your Own Risk".

  • Daytime temps below 40 degrees: We WILL ship orders during the colder months with a heat pack and/or phase pack when ordered. We highly recommend the addition of both, as the Phase pack regulates and extends the heat pack. It is the responsibility of the customer to order a heat and/or phase pack. Heat packs are linked here and Ship-Safe Phase packs are listed here.  Each pack will add 1lb. extra shipping weight.

EVEN WITH THE ADDITION OF HEAT/PHASE PACKS ALL LIVE ARRIVAL GUARANTEES ARE VOID AND CONSIDERED "SHIP AT YOUR OWN RISK".

  • Daytime temps above 90 degrees: We highly suggest the addition of a Ship-Safe Phase pack for temperatures above 90 degrees. We cannot offer ice packs because they only work in insulated boxes, but then raise the humidity to a level that easily kills the worms. 

 

We reserve the right to skip shipping weeks when necessary due to holidays, planned vacations and unforeseen events. We will always try to give customers ample notice through announcements on our website, social media and by email. Please reach out with any questions.

 

SUBSCRIPTION CUSTOMERS:

You have full access to edit your subscription in the customer portal. You may want to edit to add heat or phase packs to your order, skip shipments when temps are extreme or request holds at the post office. If at any time you need your access email resent or have any questions, please email us at framschams@gmail.com.
